a painting done on commission by John Foster. John Foster's work is known
all over the world in astronomy circles, and has been featured in all the
great astronomy magazines, cover photos, etc. The concept for this painting
began with Steve's dream of a large telescope. When his 40-inch began to
become a reality, he wondered "what would the
ultimate star party
be like? Ask yourself that question, as Steve did. Then imagine your very
own 40-inch telescope, together with a group of your friends. You are on
a distant planet somewhere outside our galaxy, perhaps in the Small Magellanic
Cloud. It's a warm evening, and your telescopes are all set up. As darkness
envelopes you, the splendor of the Milky Way Galaxy, as seen face on from
this distant place, nearly fills the sky overhead. Imagine that!
